World Children’s Day

World Children’s Day is celebrated on 20 November to commemorate the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the UN General Assembly on 20 November 1959. In Australia in 1996 it was decided to adopt a permanent theme, “A Caring World Shares”, to celebrate the right of children to enjoy childhood. Organised events allow children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities.
Growing Minds Australia recognises and pays respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their ancestors and the Elders past, present and future from the different First Nations across this country. We acknowledge the importance of connection to Land, culture, spirituality, ancestry, family and community for the wellbeing of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.
